NZ to host Bangladesh, S Africa Test tours in late summer

New Zealand Cricket said on Friday that the New Zealand home would play two Tests against both South Africa and Bangladesh in the summer schedule due to the need for quarantine in the country.

Bangladesh will play Tests at Mount Maunganui and Christchurch in early January, where South Africa will begin their series with a second Test at Hagley Oval in Wellington in mid-February.

The Black Caps will host Australia as part of the Trans-Tasman Sea short format series in March and then play a T20 and three ODIs against the Netherlands to end the home season at the end of April.

New Zealand's home international season is usually set to begin in December, but the need to separate men for the squad returning from the India tour has been delayed.

"This has not been an easy process and we will have to go through a number of unexpected changes before the arrangements are finalized," NZC chief executive David White said in a press release.

"It simply came to our notice then.

They have won four men's Tests earlier this year that will be part of New Zealand's first Test World Cup title defense.

They are unbeaten in the home Test series since the 2016-17 tour of South Africa, failing to be the best in the series that New Zealand has played in the longest format.

New Zealand will face Australia in the final of the T20 World Cup in Dubai on Sunday, and the teams will end in a four-match series starting in Canberra and two in Wellington and one in Napier.

The Australian team cannot bear much resemblance to the team currently based in the UAE, although they are scheduled to tour Pakistan in March and April.

On Friday, Cricket Australia announced that Pakistan would have a team for the three Tests against New Zealand.

The women’s White Furnace team will play India in six short format matches as they complete their preparations for the delayed 50-over World Cup, which will be held across New Zealand from 4 March to 3 April.
