Mahmudullah is disappointed. The Bangladesh captain saw deficiencies with both bat and ball in the Tigers’ final international game ahead of the T20 World Cup. But he still believes the team will be able to address those issues and blaze a victorious path in the showcase event of the game's shortest format.
The Tigers lost to the Black Caps by two runs in the fifth and final T20 match of the series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday. After the match the captain spoke of mistakes at bat and on the field.
"I believe New Zealand batted well. They ran well. But we didn't chase well. However, I'm still happy with our win in the overall series."
The four main members of Bangladesh's bowling attack - Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, Mohammad Saifuddin and Mehedi Hasan - have been rested to play. The Tigers miss six overs in the power play and the Black Caps miss six overs at the end of the innings, when they can no longer hold on.
But there was a chance in the last over of the power play, when Shariful Islam dismissed two New Zealand openers with three balls to spare. The captain thinks the Tigers had a chance to snatch the pace of the match. If they had, the results could have been different.

“We have played good cricket to win the last three series. These consecutive victories have really invigorated the team. I hope we can lift ourselves up and start winning the World Cup again. ”
