Bangladesh will have to win against West Indies in the T20 World Cup on Thursday. The first win in the Super 12 match will give them the spark they need to start their campaign, wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan said on Thursday.
Bangladesh have lost their first two matches to Sri Lanka and England and another defeat on Friday will end their hopes of reaching the semifinals from Group One, which also includes Australia and South Africa.
The two-time champions West Indies have also suffered heavy defeats to England and South Africa and will be desperate to keep their hopes alive in defending their title.
"We have often seen in the past that the Bangladesh team always comes back from a difficult time. We are just waiting for a good result," Nurul told reporters on the eve of the clash in Sharjah.
"Tomorrow's match is very important for us and we are all ready to give our all."
In recent years, Bangladesh has made strong results in white ball cricket against the Caribbean team.
In T20 Internationals, the West Indies and Bangladesh have shared honors in six matches played in 2018 but the South Asian team has won their last three series in 50-over cricket.
"It gives us confidence," Nurul said. "We are definitely on the backfoot after losing our first two matches. But we think the rest of our matches will be easier if we can beat the West Indies. The whole team will be excited."
